The life science company Ramskov Consulting Group and the non-profit professional association Food&Bio International held a workshop on life science and career with cases in the Danish life science sector. The event took place on 20th September at Copenhagen.

The main speaker was Youjie Zhang, the digital transformation Partner at Ramskov Consulting Group with over 20 years of industry experience. He introduced the status quo of the life science sector in Denmark, its strategic position, and its influence on the Danish economy.

He then analysed the benefits and challenges of digital transformation perceived in the upgradation to ISPE’s Pharma 4.0 by the global pharma companies.

The high level of digitisation of the Danish population, as he stated, makes it easy to obtain detailed data of health demographics, which has facilitated the efficient implementation of digitalisation strategies in the life science sector. However, issues such as high costs, lack of application scenarios, low skills of employees, and lack of culture have created a gap between ideals and reality.

Zhang pointed out that digitalisation, in a narrow sense, can refer to the upgrade of data from paper records to paperless ones, but a full-scale digitisation often manifests itself beyond the pure technology improvements. When a company's employees and culture embrace digital transformation, the digitalisation strategy can be effectively implemented and pose a positive impact on business operations.

Zhang also exemplified the paths and value of project management as a career direction with his own career experience.

During the Q&A session, professionals from pharmaceutical companies such as Novo Nordisk, Fujifilm Biotechnologies, and Bavarian Nordic, as well as researchers from the University of Copenhagen engaged in a lively discussion on topics such as project management mindsets and course recommendation, and how new productivity tools like AI can further enhance work efficiency.

The council of Food&Bio International assisted workshop participants with membership applications after the event.
